The current spread of the new coronavirus is critically impacting university education worldwide, and many institutions are taking the effort to support students. Global Massively Open Online Courses (MOOC) platforms, such as edX (https://www.edx.org/) and Coursera (https://www.coursera.org/), are offering special assistance programs to provide online learning opportunities to students facing challenges.
For a limited time, the special assistance program of edX and Coursera will offer free access to MOOCs. Such programs from participating universities worldwide are open to students, faculty, and staff, who can register in more than 4,800 MOOCs free of charge until completion (typically free only for the lecture video audit). The University of Tokyo supports the purpose of these programs and offers free courses that are currently available on edX and Coursera.
This scheme is an excellent opportunity to learn with students from all over the world if one’s planned study abroad has been postponed or if one has considered studying abroad and wishes to undertake a trial course (completion of the MOOC is designated as an activity under the certification requirements of the Go Global Gateway certificate program).
If you would like to participate in this program, please fill out the application form after perusing the following guidelines for use.
